Demir Demirgil was a faculty member at Boğaziçi University starting from 1967 until we lost him in 1990. Prof. Demirgil was the key figure in the establishment of the Economics Department, apart from his intense administrative involvement as the Deputy Rector and as a member of the Senate and the Executive Board. He is always remembered as a devoted lecturer.

In his memory, every Spring term, a seminar is organised with the participation of a distinguished economist and the student who attains the highest undergraduate GPA receives the Demir Demirgil award.
